The counseling process is a journey towards self-empowerment, while walking the path of self-awareness. In many ways, the individual who seeks counseling/therapy also tends to acquire skills, which can lead to the following notions such as: improved communication and interpersonal effectiveness; emotion regulation and/or impulse control;  greater sense of self-confidence in recognition of one’s thought patterns, including the effective management of one’s emotions. Sometimes, counseling involves learning more about one’s mental health conditions and developing a problem solving mindset to increase the ability to change one’s negative self-talk and self-defeating behaviors towards the development of a strong self-respect for oneself and a positive outlook pertaining to the world.
